I wanted to share the lyrics to a song that has really touched my heart lately and share with you how God is working in my life.
While I'm Waiting by John Waller
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on you, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on you, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently I will wait.
I will move ahead
Bold and confident.
Taking every step
In obedience.
While I'm waiting
I will serve you
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait.
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on you, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on you, Lord
Though it's not easy, NO.
But faithfully,
I will wait.
yes I will wait
I will serve you while I wait
I will worship while I wait
I will serve you while I wait
I will worship while I wait.
As followers of Christ, we wait for His glorious return. We wait for the Kingdom of God and for our new bodies. We wait for this earthly existence to pass so that we can experience the fullness of God. We wait for blessings in this life also. Christ's continued work in and through us, marriage and a family perhaps, opportunities to serve, fellowship, witness, etc. What are you waiting for? What does your heart long for?
While these desires are often times God-given, I can't help but see lately just how foolish it can be to dwell on anything that we hope will come to pass in this life. I have real burdens on my heart for things like marriage and the salvation of loved ones. They are easy things to think about and pray about and unfortunately get distracted by.
What I find so refreshing about this song is that it is a gift of God that we have opportunities to serve and worship and run the race even as we wait for God to work in and through us, bring our husband or wife into our lives, or draw our loved ones to Himself.
What God has been showing me (often through sorrow) is that He loves me more than I could imagine. He desires a growing and maturing relationship with me. He desires all of my life, total surrender. And He desires to bless me richly beyond what I deserve. I worry at times that I may miss out on the awesomeness of God because I'm caught up in the trivial matters. That's what everything really is when you think about it, isn't it? God wants all of our attention. He wants all of our hearts. He wants our entire being to praise Him because He is worthy of our praise!
One of the greatest things I'm discovering about God is that He delights in watching His children enjoy His creation. He wants us to experience joy. Now, don't get me wrong and think that I'm speaking of prospering all of us and making us rich in material things. God wants us to be joyful by experiencing the eternal things and growing us in the image of Jesus Christ.
He knows what we desire. He knows what we need. He knows much better than you or I do! So as I wait for God, I will continue to delight in His Word. I will continue to pursue righteousness and pray that God empower me to surrender my entire life to the cause of the Gospel of Christ.
Nothing else truly matters anymore. Not after the Cross. Not after God saved a wretched man like me and made me alive in Jesus Christ.
I rejoice in knowing that God is so faithful. My waiting isn't a passive waiting with a sliver of hope. That would be more than I deserve, but God offers so much more. My waiting is a waiting of passion, love, patience, and hope that God will fulfill His promises.
Join me in waiting! Give everything to Christ. Seek Him above all else. Avoid the distractions that desires can bring. Serve and worship Him. Run the race as you wait for the Lord.

This is the cry of my heart. Thank you for putting this into words. These truths are powerful and cut right to the heart of the matter.
